This month I decided to stray a little from the chosen beads and picked up some things that reflected the warmth of this pile of pumpkins. I fell in love with these little flower pieces when I was at Michaels and just knew that I had to use them somehow.
I wanted to use some wire-wrapping in the piece because I wanted to mix up some warm colored metals in the design. I love being able to use things that I might otherwise throw away so I have bags of scraps everywhere. I decided to take a left over piece of memory wire to make the focal. I took about half a loop and rolled down the ends so I could connect to it. Then I wrapped some copper wire with orange beads all along it. When I was done I connected little dangles in between some of the wraps. I thought it made for an interesting focal and it made me feel validated for holding on to so many of those scraps! I connected the focal to the flowers and then linked together some gold jump rings to finish it off.
Here is my finished piece:
Thanks Erin! I love that you do this every month it is so much fun!

Clever girl! I like the idea of the focal with the bit of memory wire. I will have to give that a try. And I keep everything. No. Seriously. Everything! That is how I design almost all the time! Sometimes I think that the beads have a party when I am out because when I come back I swear they are hooking up in ways that I didn't leave them and when I come back they make sense! ;-) Thank you so much for playing along with me in the Pretty Palettes challenge. Check back on December 5th for the next inspiration! Enjoy the day. Erin
ReplyDeleteSarah, I love what you've done with the colors! I think the addition of a few warm bronze and amber works really well with this palette. The faceted rondelles in shades of gray were a strand that I thought of and wanted to use in this project, but Michaels was out of them when I looked! :( I'm so glad to see that you used them, and I especially love that bracelet. Thank you for playing along! I can hardly wait to see what Erin comes up with for us next month!
